Nope. What is a 'near earth object' in astronomical terms is still a huge distance away.

Why don't you just go Google "2012" and see what you get? You shoulda done that instead of wasting 5 points.
Where did the idea come from that the world will end that year? The Mayan calendar ends on that date, but that does not mean that the world will end on that date. It's just the last day of a 5125-year cycle. A new cycle will begin.
Having said that, let me say that I respect your fear. Except that you fear the wrong thing. Why not instead be afraid of death which can come anytime? Yes, even before 2012? Or why not be afraid of the end of the world when you don't know when? Don't you think it's more scary not to know when than it is to know when? At least if you know when, you can be prepared. After all, everyone dies. What matters is, are you prepared? Life will come to an end one day, you know? whether by the end of the world or by the end of only your life. We all need to be prepared for that eventuality.

21/12/2012 is a date that, supposedly, ends a cycle of the Mayan Calendar. According to Mayan mythology--emphasis on 'myth'--at the end of each cycle the Earth is basically wiped clean, and existence starts over.
If anything happens to end the world as we know it on that day, I don't believe it will be some cosmic event. If anything, it will be a mass panic by people who will inadvertantly make their predictions self-fulfilling prophecies.
As a Christian, I believe that there is no way to know when the end will come. I do know that the first thing to happen will be the Rapture of the Church, followed by seven years of tribulation, then His return and the end of the world as we know it. Since 2012 is less than five years away and the Rapture has not occured yet, we can safely say that the End will not be then.
I also know that God said He will not return until "every tribe, evry tongue, every nation" has been given the chance to accept His Word. There are still thousands of ethnic and minority groups who have not been reached with the Bible.
I will say, however, that it will come soon. The past few decades have seen more end-time prophecies fulfilled than the two thousand years before them, and that's not a coincidence.

Why does everyone say that? The world won't end and if those Mayans are so correct then how is the world supposed to end.A giant meteor, invasion of the katar spaceships,I mean how can the world end in only five years? What about that the sun turns into a red giant theory? If it's true, then how come it isn't on the news around the world?

People running hoaxes usually rely on people being afraid of the unknown.
Remember Y2k? That is when all the computers blew up and we all died.
On 21 12 2012, it will be the last day of the present "long count" of the Mayan calendar. It is the equivalent, in that calendar, of December 31, 1999 in our calendar.
The next day, it will be the first day of the next long count. Happy New Long Count. I expect a gift. A big one, because long counts only come every 5160 years (give or take a few).

The world was meant to end on August 11th 1999 as there was an eclipse. It did end (in a way) for my partner as that was the day his first wife died.

There is no need to be afraid of the end of the world. God made earth to be inhabited forever. However, there is soon to be an end to the corrupt system that we live in and the beginning of a new world or system ruled by God, you can be a part of it and survive. Go to www.watchtower.org to find out how.

No. All of our dates are manmade and have nothing to do with what is going to happen to the world.
We lived through 6-6-06 after all.
Don't fall for this stuff. Dates are totally arbitrary and these number coincidences have nothing whatsoever to do with the natural world.
