Pharaphased, I wrote that the asker should do the work. For this I was censored and my answer deleted. Was I wrong to write this and why? I feel this site isn't for stuff you can just look up in a book or on the internet. I actually started to answer the question but realized how long England been around. What do think? Be brutely honest (but don't get censored).

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger, when a really stupid question was asked, I answered..."have you taken your medication today" and was censored. The censoring on YA I believe is automatic once a person hits the "report abuse" button. I don't think a person reviews anything. I hope you offered a rebuttal when asked to show reasons why you should not be censored. But then again, that was probably ignored by the computer.

I had an answer deleted once. The question was stupid and should have been deleted because it wasn't a real question someone was just messing around. So I answered it by just leaving a period, which I've seen other people do just so they get 2 points for opening it in the first place. Well when I got the points removed plus a fine of 10 points, it said because I didn't answer the question, that I abused it for 2 points. So because this is a site for answers, my guess if you don't give an answer to their question, because you feel they could look it up. Your violating the idea of yahoo answers.
I know it gets very annoying to find people who ask questions that are easily answered if they were to look it up online or in a book. But people also feel its faster to ask it here and thats why they do it.

It often bugs me that people ask questions when they could easily "search" the Internet. But for some people it is not that easy. I got a book out of the library on how to conduct searches of the Internet. I thought it was a bit redundant but I know that it does take a little study. The best thing to do is to look up the answer for them and provide it. It satisfies the know-it-all in you and justifies what this forum is all about. It's like when they don't check their spelling when the "check spelling" sign is right there in the window.

I do agree with you that it's pointless to ask questions that you can just as easily go to and google/wikipedia to answer. It seems to me that you'd come here more for opinions or advice, rather than to get your homework done for you.

that said, maybe just don't answer those questions? The kiddies don't like it when you tell them to find out on their own!

You probably said what they didn't want to hear. You told them to do the work, but they are to lazy and don't like being told that. Don't worry about it. Move on to the next question. Obviously you like to help people
