Yesterday, I went to look at the clock on the microwave and noticed that it was off. I figured that the outlet burned out and I would have my boyfriend look at it when he got home from work. I went out for the evening and came back. I went to turn on some lights and half of the lights worked, and half of them were very dim, it was on enough to see that the light was on, but not enough to light the room. All of my big appliances aren't working, dryer, fridge, microwave, and air conditioner. In one half of the house the tvs work, but the other it doesn't. In one half the fans work, but the other the fan goes very slowly.
I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but it has been raining every day for the past couple weeks, and the other day I noticed my tv flickering but I didn't think anything of it. Any ideas?

it sounds like half of your service panel (breaker box) isnt getting 240 volts only one leg 120volts i would call your utility company first to see if your are getting the proper voltage 240volts to your service entrance, most residence have 3 lines coming in 120v,120v, and a neutral

The only place that moisture could affect different rooms would be the breaker box. If you haven't already done so check the breakers. If it is still wet put on some rubber gloves before you touch the box lid. Look at the breakers to see if any are tripped. Some brand of breakers aren't too noticeable when tripped. If they feel spongy when you gently wiggle them they may be tripped. If your breakers are marked, such as "kitchen", push the lever to off. Some are hard to reset so make sure it stays on off before pushing back to on. Check the main breakers at the top of the box. If you have two main breakers one may be tripped causing the partial blackout. If you are positive all are on and you still have the problem I'd call an electrician. Good luck!

Yes some of your power has probably caused a short in your circut. Go to your electrical panel and flick off and on all your switches even if they look like they are all on and if you have a test switch at the bottom try it. Hopefully that will work with out you calling an electrician, it worked for me. Good luck

Yup, sounds like an electrical short. Get that checked out asap.

Also, call your utility company to see if others are having the same problem in your area.

They can also recommend an electrician for you, I think.

Yep, call an electrician. I had one leg of a cable pull out of a box and it knocked out all the 220v appliances. If your house is the mobile variety, you might have a problem with the electrical crossover. good luck

It sounds like an electrical short, and may have been caused by moisture.
