growing up i would always go every weekend to our local mom &pop video store which was packed with thousands of rare and obscure films, with titles like the univited (1988) slugs:the movie (1988) the video dead (1987),and other such low-budget fright flicks.ah the glory days of vhs,a format rapidly becoming extinct

...a lot of those older horror films, I actually remember going to the downtown grindhouses, in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago (I used to be in the Navy, and as such, I traveled quick a bit), and seeing double, and sometimes triple horror film features, featuring some of the most obscure and eclectic horror films ever made...

The theatres were old, decrepit and broken-down...the auditorium smelled of urine (or the caustic cleanser they used to hide the smell)...the curtains were torn and mildewed...the screen was stained with food and drink...the popcorn was stale...the soda was warm and flat...it was a horrific adventure, just going into the theatre; but it was the only place you could see those most ususual and overly viceral horror flicks...and for only a buck-fifty!!!

I remember seeing them at the drive in. Some of those bad foreign one, the Hammers and the ones from AIP

MGM has some of those films on DVD in the Midnight movie double feature. Some of Karloff, Price and the B's like the things with 2 heads

and then you can try something weird video , they have great B films

I remember seeing B movies at the drive in...those were the days...crappy sound, a hot dog, popcorn and a soda...Even sneaking in a beer or 12 and the occasional doobie...

Just not the same on video or DVD.

Ahh youth.
