I use ol'lady as a joke.

The term ol'lady is a biker term started back in the 70s and because I ride a bike I call my wife my ol'lady. More of a joke than for real.

I am glad that me and my ol'lady of 10 years can joke with each other and not take ourselves too seriously.

No, I have one name for him when he's being a jerk and that's not it. With others around I always show respect towards him, even when I'm teasing.

Those "pet" names are degrading in my opinion. I wouldn't think of using them.
