We are not quite there ...yet. Just wait a year. I am thinking we are headed towards authoritarian one-man rule under this Bush administration, if Bush is successful in avoiding contempt citations from Congress. Its a fact the White House controls the DOJ and is weakening Congress. We already have most of the componants in place to create a true police state. If Bush can orchestrate another " attack " then our Republic is over.
