How come us lot up in Carlisle didn't get this kind of Media Attention when we were flooded in January 2005 ????
I believe both Gordon Brown and David Cameron are doing 'Site visits' to the affected areas at the moment.
Was Carlisle ( In Mid Winter ) in the cold,with-out the luxury of gas/electricity/telephones not appealing enough for you for a visit. (Mr.Tony Blair at the time of asking.)!!!!!
What a lot of you may not be aware of is it took most of those that were affected almost a year to get back to normal ( or as normal as could be.) Only then to be hit by a second flood, ( which wasn't as devastating as the first) which affected some households AGAIN !!!!!
My heart does go out to every-one affected as I've been through it all before. But like in Carlisle 'Community spirit' will help you all through this.

A British guy living in Japan gives his sympathy to everyone effected by the floods.
You know what makes me angry though? Being here in Japan 17 years now I can remember all this being predicted at least 10 years back. Me here bored out my mind for the first 7 years did nothing but watch documentaries. Something like 900 or so and still counting I recon. Anyway being interested in climate change way back predicted exactly what was going happen right now and on this scale about 5 years back. Yes little me. Politicians saying they'll cut c02 by one third by 2020. What crap and too late if you ask me. Freak weather with record after record each year including record flooding and wind speed recorded this month here in Japan shows freak is the wrong term used. Took 10 years for these idiots just to acknowledge climate change! And even then most of the time it was debated weather this was man made or not. I recommend a documentary called Global Dimming by Horizon BBC and put together the few other hundred program es I've seen then you'll see why I call politicians idiots. All they do is try keep people happy by responding quickly to these disasters. Big deal they should of responded to what people like me were saying years back..
You might find it hard to believe how accurate Iv'e been about where and when things will happen. I call this in my terms 3d thinking if you like and here is my next prediction here for Japan. On the 27-8 of August we will have the biggest typhoon ever to hit. Yes this will be the one unfortunitly. If I'm wrong then I'll have to hide in shame and made out to be a crackpot. But guys and girls so far I've been spot on.
PS: Looney to be?

I'm in Herts and we havent suffered anything ...yet, although the brooks have all overflowed but not to the extent that we are worried.
I feel so bad for those who have lost so much..it must be so distressing especially as we are in for some more bad weather.

I can't even begin to imagine what it must feel like for all those poor people flooded out of their homes.
I wish them well..
