The average Common Goldfish lives about 20 years. They often die in 2 weeks because idiots put them in bowls and that stunts their growth. At maturity, Common Goldfish should be more than 2 feet long.

fantails can live up to 14 years and much older and get to 10" feeder goldfish can get anything up to 14" and live over and above 17 years. If you put your fish in a bowl with no filter they will not live past 2year and will hardly grow. If you have them in a tank that is well filtered and has oxygen going into water and you do weekly water changed your goldfish will have a very long and happy life. Without filters and oxygen they will soon be living in water polluted by a mixture of rotting fish food and fish waste this is what gives them such a short life span. It really annoys me when i see goldfish in a small bowl like this and people think their fish are happy and wonder why they died so soon.

hey!
the average for goldfish to live is 9-10 years but in some well cared for cases have been known to live for 40+ years!!
i have 12 goldfish which i have had since i was 3 these are now 3+ feet and are living happily in my pond with shubumkin and orandas!!

Goldfish can live years! I have seen them live for around 35 years if taken care of.

Ive has some that died within 2 weeks (usually fair prizes), but my aunt has had her goldfish for years, theyre huge too!

If you don't put them in a bowl like a dumb idiot they grow two feet long and live 20+ yrs.

i got mine from a fair around 4 years ago he a little longer then two foot and huge so they can live awhile
