I totally know what you mean I have been debating this since I was a teenager, until now I have found they all make the noise but the really skinny ones are the most comfy to wear. Perhaps you could invent a quiet one for us to save red faces as we walk out of toilet cubicles.

I'm afraid not! Panty liners may be better, they're like sanitary towels although they only line your underwear and don have wings etc. Other alternatives include tampons. What I do is flush the chain to prevent it being heard. Also if you don't want others to hear you getting a new one, which is also very noise I open it up the sides then fold it back up and put the white label thing keeping it together back over it so that it stays together. Don't think that makes much sense. But basically pull it open so that the wrapper is not attached at all, and then seal it back up with the sticker thing. That stops it from being so noise. Hope that helps!
Also if you want to find a owel you find comfortable, try different brands and styles untill you find the right one =]]

'Always' brand pads come off very easily but I don't think the sound of a pad coming off is anything to be embarrassed about. Every woman goes through the same thing that time of the month.

they dont all have to be uncomfortable.. try different brands till you find one fit that you like best.. I have been through like hundreds of brands till I found my best fit.. and as for the whoosh noice it makes when you pull it from your undies.. Just do what anyone else does.. cough real loud,, scrap your shoes across the floor, flush the toilet a hundred times, turn on the ring tone of your cell phone.. many things you can do to drown out the sound... haha!.. reminds me of the japanese ladies that now in public toilets, they ahve little noice buttons to push in the toilet stalls that similate flushing to hide the embarrassing body sounds... hahaha!

just keep in mind that all women have at one time or another worn these things. it feels embarrassing, but in all reality it is all in our heads. just rip the pad off quickly and no one will notice.
if you want, you could look into the softcup or DivaCup. they catch the blood inside, instead of absorbing it or being on the outside.
the INSTEAD (soft cup) is disposable, and the DivaCup is reusable.

only tampons.
Why are you embarrased about the noise? ALL women get their periods. It is NOTHING to be embarrased about.
