Not proof, but an interesting fact that most people don't know.
In the Ramayana, there is the story of the invasion of Ceylon, an attempt to save Sita who had been taken by the Rakshasa king, Ravanna.
Hannuman saves the day for the armies of Rama by throwing huge boulders into the water between the mainland and the island (Sri Lanka - same place).
What a wonderful myth.
Do a little research. They wonder how people built the pyramids. The Mayan ruins, right?
The bridge is still there, just under the water, made of boulders that are huge. Few people know about it (I am a student of such things, in all belief systems).
What a wonderful find.

Friend,
recently in the internet there were photoes of an underwater suberged bridge from Rameswaram towards Sri Lanka. You might have seen them.
It is the stong belief of majority of Hindus that the Great Epics Ramayan and Maha Bharath did really happen. The astronomical details given in various episodes were critically researched by scholars and it was proved that really these two Epics Did take place and Sree Rama really ruled .
The great saints too declared it as really happened.
The cultural and spirutual heritage of Bharath (India) is very very old and has strong foundation of Dharma.

Its not important if the story is real or not .. its meant for us to read and take inputs from .. its there to guide us into whats wrong and whats not.
As for it showing only the good guys winning at the end .. i dont think that there exists a mythological tale in this world having the bad winning over the good.

1. Let us assume, just to please ourselves
RAMAYANA IS A FAIRY TALE - first read it completely , understand it properly and then rekindle your thoughts - WHAT DOES IT TEACH TO THE HUMANITY - and you would know the answer .
It tries to make every person a perfect person and this world a perfect place to live. If you have been able to follow and understand the underlying messages - you would get salvation too.
2. NO NO NO - Its Not a fairy tale.
In India, stretch over thousand of miles we have the historical evidences that the Ramayana is a HISTORICAL FACT .
Radio carbon dating on various structures have taken us years back and confirmed the facts which we level as myths only.
Let me be short n precise.
Blessings

Ramayana is inside our body, We should think of it first of all, therefore it is all Real up to now a days, Think about yourself for a while, do you see big Ravan doing evil thing inside, torchering yourself, scolding yourself and other every day every second, Who is the opponent of your evil, just think your pure thoughts, your will power, if it is strong then evil is conquered by your will power thoughts. So my dear you should go deeply into the ethic of Ramayana, rather than searching its reality in world.

Aah they are more of stories if anything. But the culture and society they depict are realistic . I believe that even if they are stories they represent the soul of our culture.
And u dont need to bother about hurting anyone's feeling, a true hindu is open to all kinds of thoughts, and free to choose any of them.
