There is at least as much danger in a lesbian relationship at work as there is in a heterosexual one. Do NOT let yourself fantasize about this woman! It would only bring you both grief.
If you can't shut off the feelings and maintain a strictly professional business attitude, you will need to look for a different job. And for pity's sake, do NOT attempt to find out her sexual orientation!
Enjoy the view if and only if you can keep your blood pressure under control. (Don't stop what you are doing for the view, however; better you should keep your eyes on your work.) Otherwise, start updating your resume and get yourself out of there!!!

You have to remember she is your boss, so normal rules apply regardless of sexual preferences: Work and play should not be mixed and if they do, consequences are not usually of the desirable kind. Additionally, in these conditions, it is even riskier to predict what a possible reaction could be - both being of the same sex and all. If she is not bi or gay she may even feel uncomfortable around you if she realises-OK, she could only feel flattered, but I do not know her to know how she could possibly take that.
If you can go without hitting on her, it is because it is only a physical casual thing and in this case, better leave it out of the office.

Tiger,
You say that she doesn't come out of her office much, so IMO, she's not even "sociable". I DO NOT recommend you push the issue. Continue to enjoy your views. Hell, add a few daydreams/fantasies but leave it at that. You DON'T want to be slapped with sexual harassment, or worse a pink slip!
Via my own personal experience, most bi/gay people have a 6th sense when it comes to other bi/gay people in their perimeter. If you can't pick it up on her, then it's not there. Then again, she may be so deep in the closet, there's no hope! Just leave it alone. It already sounds like a bad situation. Good Luck with whatever you decide! :-)

Find another job before you ask her out. Office romances are very tricky, and boss-employee relationships are even more so. If you were her girlfriend, how do you think the other employees would react?
BTW, it's legal in more than 30 states to fire you for sexual orientation.

you wouldn't know for sure unless you ask. Take up a casual conversation about bisexuality or homosexuality, if she has an aversion to it, then you'll know she's neither... If not, then just naturally ask her if she'd ever thought about being with someone of the same sex... Make sure the convo is both mutual and thought-sharing, don't make yourself seem excited or curious or else it'll be suspicious. Other than that... goodluck!
p.s. I've always thought non-straights have a third eye in their heads to detect one another?

employee - boss? Oh honey, that's a big bad no matter what the orientation. It can get both of you fired, bad-listed depending on the business you're in, all kinds of bad can come of it.
Enjoy the view but find someone outside of work to play with.

Hate to tell you this but if you were a man people would consider that sexual harrassment, but since you're a woman people think it's hot.
Either way, employee-boss relationships are a BIG can of worms to open.

If your feelings for her are that strong, I would definitely extend an invitation to her for a drink after work sometime. Also, you didn't mention - is she married? Although that still would not rule out her being bi-sexual, for I am a married man who has been bi-sexual for years. Go for it.
