I have a 1980 chevy stepside truck I restored. The tail lights brake lights are on when I turn on my headlights at night. So the rear turn signals and brake lights will not flash when brakes are applied or flash when turn signals are used. The lights are bright like the brake is being applied all of the time. But my front turn signals will work just fine. When the headlights are off, The rear lights work just fine. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Switch the wires on the tail lights. They are crossed.

Well lets look at it this way. If the rear bulbs stay bright then how bout first you make sure the bulbs are in correctly and you are using 1157 bulbs, then look at the wiring, then make sure the brake light switch isnt hanging up. After you have checked all of this then its time to look at the turn signal switch. The brake lights run through the switch so it can cancel the respective brake light so the turn signal can flash, if the fronts work then you are going to end up here.
