Head gasket has blown twice on my car (Nissan Micra, 1994)- first time the overheating (blocked radiator) was not diagnosed. Does the 2 h. gasket repair jobs mean that it is now weakened- is it likely to go again????? (the AA man said so) ???????

The only one who knows the is the gomerpile who did the head gasket, if they even looked at it. If the head is straight (not warped) and head and block are cleaned properly, a shiny new head gasket is installed and torqued down correctly, than el-no-problemo. Keep an eye on your temperature, you should be fine.

Was the head skimmed after the first time the gasket blew. Many mechanics take the chance of simply replacing the gasket and fixing the fault without paying for expensive skimming.Did the mechanic re-use stretch bolts ,did he tighten the correct torque in the correct sequence?

If the head was skimmed,then
its is possible that the overheating has warped the head of the engine block. In which case the block would be removed stripped and the head skimmed.Of course this would cost far in excess the value of the car.The AA mechanic is only correct insofar as, if the repair job was not professional.

Severe over heating can warp the head or other internal parts. Your car is 14 years old. Time to think about another one.

Providing the cylinder head is not warped then there is no reason why it should go again,as long as the cooling system is working properly
