Use the WWW/browser/ keywords,,, general search... no offense meant. I find dozens, if not hundreds of sites.
There are so many manufacturers today of quality "KIT" type, many will stand up to "from scratch" site built.
Without some other details regarding specifics, we will all have opinions and preferences.
Design and how it will be used are certainly considerations for you and personal to you. Location for the cabin is a factor for one. There are probably as many designs available as there are trees in the forest. Certainly "shopping" ideas online might help you find one that suits you in style, size, features, etc. LOG cabins can be simple box structures costing in the high 5 figure range, up to multi million dollar mansions. Cottage also suggests modest, Unless it happens to be beach front or mountain top; then it might cost a lifes worth of effort and money. but again, the style of it is pretty much what suits you.
I prefer,,, for a vacation type cabin/cottage... a Swiss Chalet style, or a A frame style, but that may not be your choice at all. Your choice might also want to have it look rustic outside and very well finished and defined indoors?
In North Carolina one can purchase a "built to shell" on property for under $100 K
For you to define it's use and potential is most important. A second home, for get aways... or a year round. Either choice creates volumes of things to consider. Lot's to say here, but not knowing more than your initial question, there isn't much one can offer in the way of actuall help; especially helping you choose.

We designed and built our own rustic cabin. Finished last year. We have a open floor design with a great room that is actually the kitchen dining and living room all in one (with a stone fireplace). High ceilings and lots of windows. If you are doing a log home or even if you have decided to put wood on the walls or ceiling I would recommend lots of windows. We also have our roof line extend out over the front and back decks, this keeps the house cooler and also makes our decks usable in hot and even rainy weather. We also opted for a cabin look, log was just too expensive and the upkeep is extensive. We have an exterior of wood and stone. Also a walkout lower level with an extra kitchen , den bedroom and bath on one half of the walkout and storage, pantry furnace etc. on the other half. The only problem we have encountered is to plan your lighting if you are doing a open floor plan, lamps are not an option because you can't run cords across the floor. We have one corner that we should have installed some kind of ceiling fixture and didn't. It will be a future project. Good luck

Well depends on what your outlook is, what the theme is, your budget and the size of the cottage.
