well a lot of people say that 1 inch = 2.5cm. Actually, it's not 2.5cm, it's actually 2.54 cm

Wow. This is confusing. Well, a lot of ppl say that 1 inch = 2 cm. Actually, it's not 2 cm, it's actually 2.5 cm. And if you look on a foot ruler, you'll see that the marking for 12 inches is not pointing straight at the marking on the other side.

Feet and Inches are Imperial Measurements.
One foot is exactly 12 inches, by definition.
Converting to metric one foot is 30.48cm
1 Inch = 2.54cm
The common comparison of 1ft = 30cm is a rough one and probably came about from school rulers.

it is used in civil engineering drawing to avoid fraction when the measuring unit converted F.P.S to SI
eg. when it's said, 10" brick wall in FPS, in SI sytem, 25cm(250mm) brick wall.
ie 1"=25mm(2.5cm) but actually 1"=25.4mm(2.54cm)
and 1'(12")=25*12=300mm or 30cm.
it's a thumb rule specially used in civil engg.

1 feet =0.3048 metre

180 cm = 5.90551 ft
There's some differences because of rounding.
