There are two types of Google ads - Adwords and Adsense.
Adwords are ads that you pay to have placed in the search results as sponsored links or as ads on other peoples websites.
Adsense are ads that Google places on your website that generate you income whenever anyone clicks on them
These ads are targeted towards the content of your site so they will display ads showing similar sites to yours.
You will accumulate money with every click however you need to exceed US$100 before being paid.
The amount you make from the clicks is generally quite small and you need a hell of a lot of traffic to your site before it becomes worthwhile.
