know its slower than the g just wanna know do they detect the g type of networks from around my house ?

Yes and no. A wireless-B card will only be able to detect a Wireless-B network, since it is an older standard that Wireless-G or Draft-N.

However, the Wireless-G or Draft-N access point will also broadcast a Wireless-B signal since the newer standards are backwards-compatible. So effectively, yes. You will be able to view and connect to any -G or -N networks (although you will be doing so using the -B protocol).
