I'm not an american or from english based country so I'm use to it. a bit annoying but if you guys already used to, thats fine. what about you all?

I'm a major foreign film addict - and have adjusted myself to be able to follow the proceedings & the subs simultaneously. I enjoy foreign films because they do not follow typical Hollywood norms and bring a refreshing viewpoint to tested materials. Some even twist/merge several genres.

I don't mind watching a foreign movie with subtitles. Some movies are so worth watching, that it just doesn't matter to me if there are subtitles for translation into English. Of course, I wish I could understand the language that the actors are speaking!

The Seventh Seal (Swedish: Det sjunde inseglet) an existential 1957 Swedish film directed by Ingmar Bergman about the journey of a medieval knight (Max von Sydow) across a plague-ridden landscape. Its best-known scene features the knight playing chess with the personification of Death, his life resting on the outcome of the game. The film has long been regarded a masterpiece of cinema. The title refers to a passage about the end of the world from the Book of Revelation, used both at the very start of the film, and again towards the end, beginning with the words "And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour" (Revelation 8:1). Bergman developed the film from his own play "Wood Painting".

I've watched a few really good foreign movies, most of them french. I enjoyed it, and after a while I hardly noticed the subtitles were even there.

"Life is Beautiful"
I did not know anything about it at all when I walked into the theatre. I was so moved by it especially since I had no idea what it was about. It was in subtitles which was perfect and added to the realism especially contrasted to the American GI at the end who talks in English.
Very touching movie. Perfect in subtitles.

I'm American, and I always watch the subtitled version of any foreign language film. Dubbing is for illiterate morons.

yeah, I've watched some great films that are in another language - not something I'd go out and choose but if they come recommended I'll still watch them...
I don't notice the subtitles after awhile - I think you just get used to reading them as the movie is playing :-)

Where have you been in the last 5 or 6 years? In jungle? There are many foreign movies showing in US theaters.

Yeah I much prefer to read subtitles than to watch a film that's been dubbed. I always think dubbing over the voices always spoils a film.

I love anime so most of it is in Japanese so I watch those with English subtitles
