I sort of feel like I lost part of my life... What do I do?

I'm mourning too.. Dealing with it by re-reading all of the books. First I'm rereading DH again for further comprehension. Then I'm going to go through all the books again in order, re-watch the movies and maybe see Order of the Phoenix again in there.

I know this sounds a bit addictive, but the truth is I've got a long boring summer and I need to fill it up with something. xx

PS, I know how you feel. I was with Harry since the beginning, I grew up as a teenager just like him. We finished our school career (well, there's no wizard college but anyway) around the same time. I feel like my childhood is over.

There are a number of things to do now. Firstly you could re read the Harry Potter series. Have you read Quidditch Through Ages or Fantastic Beats and Where to Find Them? It might be fun to purchase some Harry Potter merchandise or Harry Potter games. Keep looking on Harry Potter websites for information about any new projects that J.K Rowling may be doing.
As for other books, there are heaps out there that are similar to Harry Potter. Fantasy would probably be your first option. If you really want, you can read some Harry Potter Fan Fiction, that is always good. Just because you finished The Harry Potter series doesn't mean you have to loose some of your life- keep active in the Harry Potter world, maybe even try to write to J.k Rowling. ALso remember there are more Harry Potter movies to be released!

I know how you feel. It's like a part of your life ended.. LOL But, I do have other books, authors and series that I love and continue to read.

Try out some new authors and series.

Christopher Paolini and his "Eragon" series is great.
Anne Rice has a series on Vampires and one on Witches, not to mention her "off shoot" books.
Laurell k. Hamilton has two great series, one about a Vampire Executioner and one about a Faerie Princess who's a PI..
Stephen King will enthrall also.
There is also another "copy cat" series out there about another boy wizard. The author is Ange Sage and the first book is called "Magyk".

Not to mention you can always go back and re-read all 7 of the Harry Potters. Which I plan on doing, many times!

Good luck! and Happy Reading!

If you're looking for some more addicting series to read (and have yet to pick up) a couple of good ones are Phillip Pullman's Dark Materials (The Golden Compass is the first of three and the movie's coming out this winter), the Eragon Series by Christopher Paolini. They whetted my appetite for a while, but I have yet to find anything that compares to Harry... I'm with you, though. It was great to have something entertaining to read for a while. I'll probably re-read soon, but hopefully those get you started!

look forward to the harry potter wizarding world park opening up in florida in 2010. They are going to have a whole remake from hogwarts castle to hogsmeade and diagon alley. I've been afraid to read too much of my book because I have anxiety that I'll feel like this! Empty. But good news is there is other literature out there worth your time. I know how you feel. Best wishes! ha

This isn't the end of literature, just the last adventures in one popular imaginary world. Keep the books, reread them from time to time, and move on to more of what our culture has to offer.

My personal recommendation for your next read is a series by George Martin called the Song of Ice and Fire. The first book is A Game of Thrones; there are four novels and two short prequel novellas so far, and three more books to come. You'll love it. Promise.

Relax (for a while): after finishing the book myself, i shall get back to you! meanwhile, relax, digest the stuff that you have devoured: ponder, what other way things could have worked out for Harry P and others, just brood! Try to connect to the wizards and muggles whose company you have just left! Go to sleep!

It doesn't have to end, you could write fan fiction, your own continuation of the story or a side-story or completely change it.
