In my humble opinion, people are always afraid of something that they don't understand. I'm SO tired of the gay bashing and the endless questions like, "Why did you *choose* to be gay?" Gay people and lesbians were BORN this way. It's hot wired into their brain. They're not hurting anyone else, so people who aren't educated about them should leave them alone. As far as racism goes, I feel the same way. Some people are just ignorant and they're fearful of any culture that's in any way different to their own. And of course you have the white *supremacists* (they are in no way *supreme* except for being supremely ignorant) These are the same hateful people who deny the Holocaust ever happened. I believe generalizations of entire communities are based on fear.

I hate to say it, but sometimes (not all the time) it's true. Of course there are people who defy stereotypes and a stereotype can never fully identify a person; however, it's a stereotype for a reason....many of the people in that group have the same characteristics. Then, some people notice this and the similarities and forget that sometimes people are different then w/e group they are associated with.

they want a name for themselves by being assholes even though it makes them hated but a lot of people have different oppinions so some may like the mean thing and go along with it and support the person saying crude stuff
prety much 2 sides and no matter what someone will like it even though it's ruse
but thats a good point
I think it should just be stopped all together since there just offending people

Could be their upbringing, if someone lives in an environment of hate, that is what they learn. On the other hand, people fear what they don't understand and it's easier to make assumptions about any group than it is to take the time to find out about the group. Still others are influenced by their peers, religious groups, etc. as they have difficulties thinking for themselves and/or want to belong.

Hi Elfie - Were peeps raggin' on you ? They're just jealous 'cause you're getting what they desire - take it with a grain of salt. It's all too easy to write at will, when you're a faceless name (even with a name & pic), without any chance of true recourse of any type. Try to ignore the shmucks & shmuckettes - they're an under-developed little group of minions in my eyes - good for file 13.

People are scared of the unkown, so they bash it to make themselves feel better.
