how hard is it to start your own lawn care buisness?

Me son, tired of retirement, bought one Dixon lawn mower, 12 grand and, some other equipment, he went out and began a campaign with people in cutting and maintenance in lawn care. He now does lawns, planting and rock walls, you name it. He even expanded in home maintenance.
I started this but, it only lasted for a short time. I ended up starting a remodeling company. People will start asking if you do other things for them, fixing gutters, painting fascias. Fixing things around the home.
I was making 125 a year, I would guess my son makes more and he has three people working for him, you have to be flexible and do what people need.
