This is a trick that really works and is cheap to! Go buy some good old Juicy Fruit chewing gum, unwrap the slices and lay them all around the inside of your fridge. Leave it like that for a couple of days and PRESTO! the smell is gone!
I guess the gum absorbs the odour or something.
I wonder what it does to a stomach? ;>

After you have thrown out all of the food and cleaned out the refrigerator with bleach water, try putting candle scent (citrus or berry) on cotton balls in a few places in the fridge. This is before you put food back in the fridge. Close the doors and let sit for several hours. Don't put the cotton balls directly on the plastic; put a baggie under them. Candle scent stains plastic. Good luck!

Get a bottle of cheap vanilla. Clean it with bleach water first. 1 gallon of water to 1 capful of bleach, or the smell will be too strong. After you wipe it out with the bleach water, wipe it down with the vanilla. It worked when I left a bowl of hot cereal in the microwave for a few days while out of town.

COFFEE GROUNDS. This works!
Spread a cup or two of coffee grounds on a plate and put in the refrigerator. Put a second plate of grounds in the freezer since it shares air with the refrigerator. This will absorb all the odors over a few days' time.
Make sure to DISCARD the grounds when done. DON'T USE THEM FOR MAKING COFFEE unless you like really gross coffee.

I have cleaned houses for 16 years. So with this in mind I would use clorox bleach. They have it in a spray bottle. The bottle is white with a orange tip on the spray part. It works wonders.
