The first step in treating eczema is to identify the precipitating event or trigger and avoid it if possible! You may not see an immediate improvement, but if you are going to successfully treat eczema, it is important to break the cycle! Here are some tips:

Avoid situations that will make your baby sweat -- don't pile on blankets or put his in a blanket sleeper.

Eczema can be triggered by allergies. Most children with eczema have food allergies. Once the trigger for the allergy has been identified, avoidance of the allergen can lead to a significant improvment. Cut cows' milk, eggs, citrus fruits, and peanut products from his diet. - if you breast-feeding cut off from your diet.

Wash his clothes in a laundry detergent made for sensitive skin, such as Dreft Laundry Detergent.

Avoid dressing your baby (or yourself for that matter) in wool or any other harsh material (cotton is excellent).

Local application of soothing lotions - any of the following does the job

1.zinc oxide works well
2.Licorice : Apply cream to affected areas 3 or 4 times a day. Also called glycyrrhetinic acid cream.
3. Chamomile cream
4. Emu oil - Apply a single drop of emu oil to
he affected area 3 times a day. It almost always gets rid of eczema within a week.

My 4 year old gets eczema on the back of her legs and on her buttocks. After having the dr. prescribe three different type of steroid based creams, which did work, but I was very uncomfortable with, my mom recommended a cream called Rapha Remedy, an all natural shea butter based lotion. I have been using it on her rashes and it works wonderfully! I dont know the exact website, but if you search under Rapha Remedy (it's only available online), you should find the website ( I think it's called Longlife Unlimited, but am not sure)

The cream is a bit expensive (around $30 for a 2 oz. jar), but it really does work! Good Luck!

Are you breast feeding,or formula feeding your baby? sometimes eczema is related to a food allergy, when did it start? Was it from birth that he's had these problems or just since the introduction of solids? These are the questions you need to ask yourself. Sorbolene instead of soap derived cleansers might help. otherwise if your breast feeding try taking him off milk based products or wheat based products (with permission of you paediatrician of course)

Eczema patients can avoid scratchy fibers for softer ones like bamboo, cotton, or silk, which are gentler on the skin. Opting to buy organic fibers can also be a wise, healthy, and eco-friendly alternative. Learn here https://tr.im/pXIpW
