I'll try and keep this simple......I have 2 computers, they are connected using a crossover cable, Comp2 goes through Comp1 for internet. Comp1 can access files on Comp2. Comp2 use to be able to access files on Comp1 but no longer can because all of the icons under "My Network Places" have gone missing. When I click to View the workgroup computers, the only thing I see is Comp2. Even on Comp1 all I see is Comp2. Shouldnt I be able to see Comp1 under Comp1's workgroup??? I dont understand how Comp2 can still have an internet connection if it doesnt even show Comp1 being in its workgroup. When I try to add Comp1 in "Add Network Places" it always says invalid. Any ideas???

Type in \\Comp1\SharedDrive given that Comp1 is the machine and it shared SharedDrive, type that in the Location bar of Explorer. You must have changed something related to networking, what is it?

Try the following steps:
1) Open My Network Places
2) Click 'Entire Network' on the sidebar
3) Double-click Microsoft Windows Network
4) Double-click on the workgroup name

If your Comp1 still does not appear there, try renaming the workgroup of Comp1 to something else, reboot, then change it back, reboot again, and see if that helps.

If it doesn't, you can try re-installing TCP/IP.

Its not really necessary to see your own computer on your own computer. Say your on computer 1, all you have to do is open up your shared folder on computer 1, which basically what the icon does.
