20s is the start to the rest of your life. There are so many places to meet people and make new friends. Depends on what you like to. If you like to read bookstores bring by lots of people, CLUBS of course, the gym, anything and anywhere. You find things that u like so that you will have things in common with people around you so its not so hard to make new friends. If you go out of Ur comfort zone you will feel uncomfortable and it will make it hard for you to be yoUrself and make new friends. So ur remember be yourself and don't be scared of making new friends

I kind of understand your dilemma. I just moved from Wisconsin to California and I only knew a few people. I recently started a Book Club via craigslist because I love to read and discuss. I know you said you tried that, but maybe if you did something more specific? I graduated early so I don't start school again until the fall and both my jobs are on a more personal level. I also don't have any extra money so finding things to do can be a little difficult. I don't really know if this is helping, but you could try joining the YMCA, taking a class there might help you meet people, or just a regular athetic club if you're working on getting in shape. I know Curves does a good mix of group and individual activities. Or if you're interested you might try yoga, I love it and yoga classes are usually a relatively friendly environment. Hopefully that helps a little.

That's really hard to say, you can go to a bar or club but it's mostly a meet market in there. Have you tried hanging out at the beach or going to small pubs during the day. If you lived in San Francisco you could go hang down by the bay or in a big park.

At bars people are more social. Are you new to the area? A good way that you can meet new friends if you do not like the bar environment is to volunteer for programs. Do a walkathon or volunteer to help kids or things you enjoy. You are guaranteed to meet friends and people who enjoy things of your nature. Be friendly and take the initiative.

School is the best place. People there can simply sit together, study together, and, from there, may begin lasting friendships.
