Well the soldier's are fighting for a cause that has been instilled in them, that we must keep the enemy there--to keep us safe here, which doesn't make much sense to me either--but if it keeps their morale up, I am all for it. If you mean the fact that our administration has tried to pull the wool over our eyes so that we cannot see the war for what it is worth. Well, it has worked so far for him. After all the untruths he has been caught in, and the unconstitutional things he has done that he hasn't been asked to account for, I think that his administration believes it is untouchable. So they keep feeding the same bull $h!t and we all have eaten it willingly so far (maybe not willingly, but hey-- who's stopping him?)
Maybe the question you should be asking is: Why is everyone either buying or remaining apathetic about the crap we are being fed? It almost makes me more frustrated that there is such apathy on a rampant scale, than just the corruption in the White House.

Then answer to this question is this the option could be to put up posters saying would you die for peace. Then for millions of people to raise money to go to Iraq interpose their bodies between people who wish to kill eachother and chant Abolish War. Then stand fast and risk life and limb to end The War. Millions Marching with Peace signs may have an effect. It takes courage but where there is a will there is a way. While it may not be a Revolution it would still change things maybe for the better.

A better way to put it would be that they're DEFENDING our freedom (not necessarily in this current war.) If we had no army, any other country could come in and take us over and strip us of all freedoms.

Because it is hard for them to accept the fact that they have been duped by this administration into believing all the lies that were told them and much simpler to keep repeating the same old same old phony patriotic slogans about fighting for our freedom, keeping this country safe for democracy and fighting them over there instead of here.

Its for their freedom as much as it is ours. Would you consider a nation free that had daily terrorist attacks like Israel does? What would life be like here if we had a 9/11 style attack on US soil every year?
In general, if we sit back and let Americas enemies arm themselves, then we are contributing to our own demise.
Lets say for a second that we lived in the wild west, and you knew a loser that lost to you in a poker game one night was going to try to kill your kid. Do you wait for him to go arm himself before you do something about it? Or do you go take care of him while you know you can take him? Or do you actually let him kill one of your kids before you are willing to do something about it?
Now you know the dilema that our leaders face everyday. If we dont get rid of people like Saddam that support terror, then tyranny reigns, and nations like us get hammered by attacks.

it's a cheap and cynical ploy to garner support for this bungled war...there's an old saying that rings more true now than ever: 'patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel'-may i recommend a book that will help understand? it's called 'johnny got his gun' by dalton trumbo...

here's a brilliant idea: let's pull out of iraq and instead of fighting the jihadist 'martyrs' over there with our armed men, lets wait and fight them over here in the states with our unarmed civilians. What do you say? (apparently yes.)
And to Frank....they do hate our freedoms. Muslim extremists want nothing more than to take over and convert the entire western world.

There are a lot of foreign terrorists over there right now. Do you remember the guys who flew planes into buildings a few years back, well there are apparently a good number of these same kind of people operating out of Iraq. I don't know about you, but I'm glad that our soldiers are over there kicking their butts up and down Baghdad right now.

Ignorance. It's the same people who believe Muslim extremists attacked us because "they hate our freedoms." There have been times when our wars were truly to protect our freedoms and ways of life; the war in Iraq is not one of them.

No intelligent individual can honestly say that our soldiers are fighting for our freedoms. Especially when Bush keeps gutting our constitution and the Democrats keep letting him while the soldiers are in Iraq. They are fighting for the oil and keeping the military industrial corporate profiteers rich by having free access to our national treasury.
