Ok so this guy who lives down the street from me he all of sudden keeps trying to have sex with me. Is it most likely because he wants to tell his buddies he 'scored' with a freshman?

One thing that will happen is the guys that are juniors and seniors will try to sleep with as many freshmans as possible. They only thing they are interested in is sex, and they will say anything to get it. You'll probably also encounter a lot of people treating you like you are less than them because you are a few years younger. Once your about half way through the new school year everything will calm down and stop being so hostile.

Journalism can be a very fun class, if you have a great teacher. You will more than likely be doing the school paper.

Don't be worried, freshman year is really kl. The older kids mostly treat you the same, just make a good first impression and they won't bother you, ever again.

And I just got out of freshman year and I can't count the amount of guys that came to my door everynight and asked me and my room-mate to do a threesome, it was hilarious. I'm glad she was there with me...! There are alot of people, mainly seniors and some juniors who will try and get all the sex they can in one night, so if you are boarding (I only did that for the first semester) be very careful! Don't take no bullshit from anyone and be careful of the older guys as boyfriends, because you might end up preggo like me.

Expect some static from upper classmen but probably not too much. Just be smart and watch your situations and friends and you will be ok.
Also - be smart in your studies... you have chosen a good elective in journalism... but believe it or not your time in HS will go quickly. You have to be serious and remember that in many ways fun time is over and this is preparation for your life ( you will still have fun, but never let it be at the expense of your goals). Set your goals such as graduation and entrance into a good college and from the first day think of what you have to do to get there and how it will feel to reach those goals and be the person that does it.
I am an HS teacher (of Freshmen) and I had the treasure of seeing some of my former Freshmen graduate last month and they had a feeling like you couldn't imagine - and I was so proud of them. Why? Because they are going to good places in life.
Work hard, sacrifice, enjoy your accomplishments and you will succeed ( and, oh, yeah, make good decisions and don't cut corners).

We've all been there! I promise it's not as terrifying as you think it will be. Once you go to the orientation (which I assume your school will have for all the freshman) you'll feel much better. The UNKNOWN is always scary!

Look at high school as a big adventure to meet new friends and enjoy school because it's going to be a lot more fun than middle school because you'll have the excitement of football games, dances, proms, etc.

You will be fine and no the upper classmen will not try to beat you up in the halls. If you're taking journalism then you'll be able to write lots of cool stories on people in the school, etc.

Psych yourself up - these next four years are gonna be a blast. Enjoy high school and have fun.

To tell you the Truth at most schools the older kids could care less about and you shouldn't be worried unless it's the teachers' policy that scares you. For Journalism though you must be good in English, Tech., Photography, and have a good GPA all year around. So good luck and relax. Your not the only one going to high school this year as a Freshman

I took Journalism all through high school. The whole picking on Freshmen thing isn't that bad. I got picked on maybe twice my Freshmen year but it wasn't because I was a Freshmen. To be honest I was relieved after middle school. I don't think any kid should have to suffer through middle school. I got jumped all the time and beat up I even had a knife and gun pulled on me but once I went to high school it seemed like kids were a little more mature or at least ignored you instead of picking on you. In Journalism you will learn how to take photos, select photos to use, use proper story writing techniques, design layouts, cite sources, crop photos, and edit your work. I also took part in statewide competition in the Florida Scholactic Press Association. I mostly did literary magazine competitions but did submit one story that placed 4th in the state and I did a display board and submited a few photos for competition. We got to stay in a hotel for the weekend and the last year A-teens came for a demo tour so we got to see them do a free concert. They had a semi-formal banquet and awsome slideshow the day they announced the winners. It was the best time I had in high school and I really wish I could go back and do it again.

Ahh high school, it helps to be cute..like me! No just joking. Don't be worried high school is the best stage of a kids life. It's really fun. The older kids just treat freshman like younger people. The nice people will treat you normally but all the other...er...people (I was gonna say jocks and cheerleaders but I was one myself-not a cheerleader!) might give you like dirty looks and stuff. I did that for the 2 middle years of high school but then I realised I was frightening the little kids so I softened up. I'm a big softie now! :D

And that guy down your road, if your high school is anything like mine was you are gonna get that a LOT. Just ignore it or else put salt in their water at lunch, and tell them to p*ss off.

i was a freshman last year and trust me its nothing like you see in the movies. theres really nothing to be scared of. yea you will get teased for being a freshman but its nothing personal. its cause your the lowest grade in the school, happens to every one. (at my school it is a tradition that the upperclassmen scream "freshman suck!!" it actually pretty fun screaming that they suck back though) as long as you know your place and do not act like your the next greatest thing the older kids will leave you alone. i never bothered any of the older kids so i never had a problem with them. if you leave them alone they will leave you alone, i promise. i don't know what school you go to but when i was a freshman i took these classes:

~health I
~freshman orch
~math 9
~basic electricity
~Spanish II
~English 9
~global 9
~earth science/ earth science lab ( i hated that class so much!!!!)
~ and gym

so im guessing you will be taking classes similar to those, just different electives. theres a lot to choose from. enjoy freshman year. it will go by so quickly

Girl its nothing to be worried about it just seems that way because people try to say making the conversion from middle school to high school is hard but it's really not , Take me for instance i was a freshmen in high school last year and i did great , my grade-point average was an 3.8 , i passed all my classes, but the scariest thing about high school is the finale exams which are done at the end of the 1and 2 semester's and they are hell. But you should be focused on not letting the upper class boys try talking you into bed because trust me that's what they like to do prey on the freshmen girls and if you do end up dating an upper class man girl the upper class-man girls are going to hate your guts

Seniors were my best friends when I was a freshman and now they left. Have some big friends on campus or just be a nice person and they won't be able to mess with you if you don't care. Overall, they mostly make freshman jokes but thats it. Haven't had any problems. Good luck!
