*SPOILERS*

The significance of Harry's eyes has to do with Snape. The main reason he has helped Harry was because he was Lily's son who he had loved since a child. Dumbledore tells Snape that Harry has Lily's eyes and Snape is more inclined to help Harry because of this. Towards the end of the book, Snape is dying and he tells Harry to look at him so he could look into Lily's eyes one last time. It really had nothing to do with the Deathly Hallows.

This has already been asked, if you bothered to scroll down or use the search button.

That was his link to his mother and the reason Snape turns from evil to good. It's also a very sad moment as Snape is dying and asks Harry to come and look into his eyes.

Snape loved Lily Evans. He loved her so much that even when he told Voldemort about the prophecy he asked for her to be spared. He went and told Dumbledore about this and promised his loyalty. Dumbledore believed him and believed he would never break his promise because each time he saw Harry's eyes, he saw the eyes of the woman he loved, the woman he sought to protect. He always wanted Harry to survive because of his love for Lily.

There's not really an answer as such, but Dumbledore points out to Snape that while he looks most like his father, he is more like his mother in character.

So I agree with Doug S - it's probably to point out that he is most like his mother on the inside.

Harry's father was a bit of a bastard.
His mother was very kind.

Eyes are 'window to the soul'.

By saying Harry had his mother's eyes, they were saying Harry was a kind, loving person (like his mom) instead of self-important (like his dad).

It's to establish that Harry was the product of James Potter and Lily Evans, really. Many fans had questioned his parentage on other fan sites, so I believe the author describes him as she does to reaffirm that he is the product of his parents, and not some true foundling with no lineage.

because snape was in love with lilly and when harry looked at him it reminded him of lilly and in his final moments he looked at harry and saw lilly's as the last thing he ever saw on earth.

Read the book! It's so much better reading it from a book, then someone telling you.
