Most of it comes from the "red scare" of half a century ago -- a lot of people in power still remember that and still react emotionally.

Some of it comes from the fact that many people don't actually have a clue what communism is -- they confuse it with fascism or socialist. Without ever actually reading the definitions or caring if they are blurring words into each other.

properly, the ACP won't gain a democracy that helps capitalism. wanting the Communist social gathering "bending the actuality," and announcing they are the different of what they look, they won't in any respect win an election right here. in spite of the undeniable fact that communism has some great recommendations, it brings with it some bags that all people isn't prepared to hold in this variety of climate. Beside that actuality, communism does no longer be conscious as very much with the hot attitude in u . s .; the attitude being that in spite of the undeniable fact that the wealthy are loathed they are additionally envied, maximum persons of the wealthy in u . s . are no longer wealthy from kin funds, like they have been while Marx and Engels compiled their well-known manifesto. In-short, all people right here is grasping and actually pleased with the actuality. continually hoping to make it vast and be extra advantageous than all people else. u . s . has a love-hate relationship with a society of sophistication that we are only no longer prepared to offer up, the megabucks says all of it. you need to continually deliver the social gathering funds.

Probably because fascists countries used to use a chopped up, remixed model of communism to control their populations.
It works best for the top 1% holders of wealth to make sure anything that remotely helps the poor, and costs them a dime, is denounced as socialism/capitalism, because every penny they lose, is a penny they can't use to buy a politicians, which translates to diminished power.
So it is in the best interest of the exploitee to make sure that the exploited view any other system than pure capitalism, as the fascist authoritarian versions of socialism/communism, so they embrace their own exploitation.

Fascist governments like to tout a socialist or communist structure to rest control from the people, because they are easier for them to control without proper safguards.
In reality, no pure system of government or economy works the best. They all end up being a snake eating its own tail. Mixed economies and governments, utilizing the better aspects of all forms, is what works best, but they to, must contain safeguards to prevent oppression.

Because communism is a scourge. Stalin killed more Russians then Hitler. Mao and his glorious cultural revolution killed countless Chinese. If you love freedom then the one state system that is Communism is your enemy. Communism also goes against human nature. People are basicall lazy and greedy. The chance to make profit counteracts the laziness. If everyone is paid the same no matter what then there is no benefit to excell. Also, Communism never even works out that way, the party becomes the rich and powerfull while the rest suffer.

It's the other way around: Communism is the "bloated couch potato" and Democratic/Capitalism is "lean and hungry."

This is why Capitalism trounces Communism in any economic comparison. Just look at the U.S. vs. the U.S.S.R. (when the latter existed as such). The Russians starved and floundered, while the U.S. mostly prospered.

It's a known failed system that creates poverty and goes against our basic 1st amendment rights. People are afraid because there is a prominent political party that is trying to shove the communist agenda down the American people's throats. It scares me that there are a good number of people in America that buy into this communist crap because this prominent political party preys on people's emotions without explaining the overall consequences of a socialist/communist state.

It was purposely created by the people in power for various reasons:

a/ at the end of WW2 The Red Army looked invincible as they dumped all over Berlin. The West were genuinely scared of them taking over Europe. The US General Patton wanted to re-arm the German prisoners after the war and together with the West invade Russia. He was very, very impressed with the German soldier as a fighting man. Funny he died of a "car accident" not long after stating this view.

b/ to get support for war (Korea, Vietnam)

c/ to get support for the cold war

Okay, the US is NOT afraid of Communism. History has all but proved that communism/socialism is not a very practical model for government. It might work on a small scale, like the hippie commune you live in, but is not very practical for an entire country. Just an example...people join communes because they want to. You cannot impose a commune on people who cherish freedom.

Repulsed would be a more appopriate word. Communism is totally unatural and has to be enforced. In the end only a very select few end up with all the goodies (like the heads of the KGB in USSR) while the rest of the population barely survives in misery and without hope.

Let's clarify things. We aren't afraid of them, we just hate everything they stand for and will not allow them entrance, and they equally hate what we stand for. There is no room for compromise or negotiation when two ideologies are so diametrically opposed.
Ask any American that grew up in an eastern block country what they think. Or ask my friend whose family was killed by the Kymer Rouge what he thinks.

The "hungry animal" that is communism implodes on itself... you have no motivated work force and government obviously becomes a fascism because there is so much control and fight for power... at least our democracy has put us on top for now and we have checks and balances in our gov't
