My personal favorites are Del Coronado or Pacific Terrace. Pacific Terrace is a small boutique hotel right on the beach in Pacific Beach. Del Coronado is huge, but another great location....much more of an upscale location.

Try either the Catamaran or Bahia Hotels both located adjacent (1 block) from the beach at Mission Bay. You'd be less than a mile from Sea World, 5-6 miles south of La Jolla and an easy walk to the Boardwalk on Mission Beach and several excellent restaurants nearby. The Hotel Del Coronado is tops, but their price will probably be double what you'll pay here! I have stayed at the Catamaran twice and the room was very nice with a friendly and knowledgeable staff. BTW, each hotel is located right on Mission Blvd..

Paradise Point is great if you have kids - and enough money. If you can afford it, get a bungalow on the ocean - you can walk right out on the sand of Mission Bay. There's also mini sailboats, paddle boats and motorboats to rent on property, as well as surrey bikes, ping pong and a mini golf course. Also several pools. But it is a kid heaven - i don't know that I would go there for romance, and it can get pricey.

Since you haven't mentioned a price range, the best is going to run you about $500.00 a room and up.

My favorite place is a condo on the beach in mission beach, the Capri By the Sea, with one and two bedroom apartments for $200 a day and up, three day minimum.

The Bahia Hotel is by the bay and the beach; not sure how the service is but I've heard that it's really nice.

try Hotel Coronado. it's next to a beach. you can take your early morning walk or a romantic walk at night. it's quiet and very relaxing. that's my best bet!!!!!
