Is this a hypothetical case?

State laws vary as to what kind of force can be used against an intruder.

Do you mean Randy Weaver and the what happened in Ruby Ridge in 1992? The original charges were for weapons (he allegedly sold some sawed off shot guns to an under cover agent and was a know white separatist) and the reason the FBI, with around 400 armed agents, invaded the Weaver home after an 11 day standoff was for failure to appear on those charges. He was eventually found innocent of the weapons charge but guilty on the failure to appear.

The Justice Department’s did investigate the matter and even recommended criminal prosecution of federal agents involved

Weaver won $3.1 million in civil damages for the death of wife, 14-year-old son and 10-month-old baby.

Ultimately, he was charged with 'failure to appear' on an earlier charge . He served his time during trial and was awarded $ 100,000 by the government.
