I think the 2 biggest things to affect us all is:
1. 9/11. That is a real biggy for us all, I think.
2. The price of fuel. Not just gas but, also diesel. Because of the increase in fuel prices we are paying higher prices at the grocery store and other places we shop because of shipping cost, the cost of growing things, etc.

Everything that has happened in the past 10 years affects everyone, whether it be ..... Floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, 911, Katrina, Volcanoes, Earthquakes.

I am lucky. I live in New Zealand and we don't have any of those, but when those above end up as news on our tv's .... we are concerned and affected.

A lot of people America loved died in the past 10 years. I remember having to tell my little cousin that Fred Rogers (from Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood) died of stomach cancer. She didn't seem too affected, but I remember a lot of my friends and I were just mopey and depressed for the rest of the week because we used to watch that show as little kids. I know nobody probably remembers this, but he was on TV for decades...my mother watched him! And when you think about it, this man devoted his life to making kids happy. He loved his show, and loved kids.

Airport security and incresed fear of attack since 9/11. Everyone is on edge because of it. School trips now have to be really careful and have to check the alert ratings. 9/11 has also increased tereotyping of muslims and middle eastern people as bad murders and terorists.
