there was once a time where victory was the number one priority. But now it is so dedicated to failure. America has become a weak moraled nation, revealing our weakness and drives hope into our enemies. I use to think being American was something to be proud of, something better than the rest. But that feeling is slipping away, after seeing the majority whine and complain over a war that is winnable. America has become weak. we may be still more technilogically more advanced but others are catching up, and we are slowing down. I just dont understand to what has happened to this once great nation, Bush to me, is doing what he should be doing, but the majority of American people are supporting the opposite of what he is trying to achieve, which is failure.
what is happening and do you believe with this lack of willingness to support victory, will be our downfall?
what are your thoughts

We were winning in Afghanistan until Bush pulled down troop strength for the war in Iraq, giving Al Qeda and the Taliban time to rebuild.

We won the War in Iraq back in '03. But victory wasn't good enough for the Busheviks, so the troops are still there.

The Busheviks never wanted victory and still don't. All they've ever wanted was a war to provide the Ends to justify the Means that were their real goal.

The War on Terror is a lot bigger than what's going on in Iraq. To win that one we need to preserve and build our Military and Economic power and Rebuild our International Reputation.

To do that, we need some new leadership who are committed to winning the Big War. No one else is stepping up to lead the Free World, which this war redefines as the part of the World not under Religious Rule, and no one is going to follow us if we ease up on the folks who are clearly a part of the problem to attack countries who aren't and keep committing resources to what has become a debacle.

Umm...maybe it's the fact that this is the third war in a row ("desert storm" doesn't really count) that America has started and lost?
Hopefully we'll learn that you can't "force democracy" on another nation. A "free" government has to be desired and fought for. What we have in Iraq is a number of factions who are taking advantage of American intervention to try to secure their own power base.
Do you realize how many times America has backed some person to be a leader in their country, only to have that person gain power and then declare a dictatorship and throw American influence out? Quite a few!!! Iraq can't even get to that state, since the Americans are just prolonging the faction fighting by getting in the way!

Do you really believe that a government that has been religious based for many centuries can decide to have "separation of church and state" over night???

WHAT thirst for victory? Have you actually served in the military? The very best wars are the ones you don't HAVE to fight. Being American is NOT invading weakly defended countries on false pretexts and killing tens and tens of thousands of innocent people in the process.
I would sooner see Bush, Cheney and his neocon friends in the dock in Nuremburg for war crimes. We are not a fascist nation, quite yet. By the way, I never supported Bush.
I remain convinced the 2000 election was stolen and the nation suffered a right wing coup. In my eyes we don't have a legitamate president. Bush is the embodiment of FAILURE. But he makes a good fascist stooge.

Yeah, there are a few people out there that Just can't accept the fact that IRAQ was not behind 911.
That we did Bin Laden and the associated terrorist groups a big favor by Invading Iraq on false pretenses.
Now they can do basic training in Pakistan and get hands on training in Iraq.

We did exactly what they wanted.

Why the resurgance of Al Quedas power over the past two years?
Because we allowed it by invading Iraq and ignoring them.

The "justifications" for invading IRAQ
were LIES.
BULL****
Bilgewater.

Are you the last person to get it?

Simply put people have lost faith in this war. The war was sold to us as various things. #1 was that Sadam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. #2 Saddam was in contact with the terrorist behind 911. #3 The Iraqui people wanted to be liberated. The reality of it all is that all 3 things are not true.

#1 Saddam Husein no longer had weapons of mass destruction. This was known for a while yet those in power led us to believe that they did and that these weapons would be fully functional and would be used against us inmediately. All the evidence shows that this is not true.

#2 The Alqaida people did talk with Saddam Hussein but Saddam did not want anything to do with them. Saddam was not behind or had any connection to the terrorist attack on 9-11. This was the conclusion of the 911 commission and has been repeated many times yet people ignore this fact.

#3 The Iraqui people did not really want to be liberated. They do not have any desire to be like us or become part of us. They have their own agenda and we are not in the picture of that agenda. Sure, they liked that Saddam is not in power but not for the sake of democrasy. Rather because it serves their own needs and wants.

So, if you look at it from that perspective then why be at war. There is really no good reason to be over there because non of the 3 reasons that we went in for are true or no longer true. The war was either a facade or a big mistake. At this point trying to win only means we are hard headed. It would be like winning for the sake of winning. The thing is that this is not a football game. Our friends and family are dying over there. The question on whether we should leave or not is a hard one. I never supported the war but I think that pulling out now might be a bad thing. We created a mess over there so it is our responsability and to our convinience to fix some things up over there.

The reason our country is in such bad state is because we haven't had a strong leader. Right now there are no strong leaders and it looks like there won't be any strong leaders for this coming election. The republicans have proven that all they care about is giving power to themselves and to the companies. The Democrats really don't have solutions either. Their campaing is based on that they are not republicans. They really have nothing else going. The only thing that they may have is that if Barak wins then we would have the first non white president and if hilarry wins the we would have the first female president. Thats it, nothing else. To me a great project would be to develop an alternative and reliable source of energy. A project to a similar or greater scale to when we where competing with the russians to go to the moon. There are other great things that we could be doing but we don't have anybody to drive us. All I see or hear is a lot of talk that really don't say anything but zero action. The best thing that was accomplished in the last 10 or so years is the ipod. Thats it. Now compare that to building the first nuclear bomb, the greatest navy, a trip to the moon, computers etc etc and you can see that our current accomplishment are lack luster.

A bit more on Saddam Hussein. There is no doubt that Saddam was an evil bastard. What people don't see is that what keeps that region of the world going is an evil bastard like Sadamn. Iraq was doing well with Sadam because no one dared defy him. Thats how bad he was. Once we kill the cat all the rats from every rat hole decided to come out. The iraqui people are fighting against each other for religious and etnical control. Add to the mix some terrorist and some people from other nations like Iran who likes nothing better than to give us a black eye. Thise people on that region of the world do not like each other. They are always at war with eachother much the same as when the Brittish the spaniard and the frensh where at each others throat back in the day. To me they are still at that stage and we as the good wishing people we are put ourselves right in the middle of it all and we are paying for it. We as a nation have to understand that some people simply don't want to be helped. They are not ready to join the civilized world. I mean a month ago some faction in Iraq blew a church up. They then blamed us for not protecting the church. How F-up is that. Is their church, they should be protecting it. Ho about not blowing your churches up. Why is that our fault? They don't see it that way.

People argue that Bush had made this country safer. The evidence shows otherwise. But even if you don't believe what is said think about this. Million pounds of drugs come into this country everyday from all over the world. Ilegal people come to this country everyday from all over the world. When we say ilegal aliens we always think mexicans but what about people from ireland? We get people from all parts of the world everyday. They manage to get in rather easily. Now, if this is possible and it happens on a daily basis what makes you think that we are going to stop a small dirty bomb coming into this country? It would get in as easily as a pound of colombian cocain ends up on the street of any town U.S.A. Is all a false sense of security. And why would they want some big explosion. All they need to do is small jobs. Start a few fires. Plant a few land mines at some colleges. Kidnap and kill people at random. I mean if the idea is to make you feel unsafe then it wouldn't take much to do that.

We finally developed a conscience.

Wanting to win no matter the consequences is, frankly, stupid. So you ask, what happened to people wanting victory? People began to realize that there are consequences to their actions and turned to logic instead.

YOU are the problem! All you think about is "win, win, win" without regard for anyone else. That's why the rest of the world hates us - because of selfish, inconsiderate numbskulls like yourself. Put THAT in your pipe and smoke it!
