You can change her mind by showing that you have the ability to do what you want to do. So be in every play you can get into do. Try to get an interview at an agency. Find one by typing "Talent agents near (and put in your home town)."

Wanting to do it to be famous is probably the surest way to be miserable.
I had a student who was a model when she was 17. She was 5'10" and weighed 108 pounds at the time that they told her to lose more weight. She decided that staying alive was a better option.
Wanting to be the center of attention is really a poor motivation. Even if you have talent, this suggests that you're only happy if you're the star of the show. What happens if you're cast as the third girl from the left? If you need the attention to be happy, you'll quickly become known as a prima donna.
So first, figure out why you want to be an actress or model. But fame is probably not going to be enough motivation for you to succeed AND be happy doing it.

Well, your mother cant decide on what YOU should be.If she wants you to do something so badly, why didnt she become it???I say follow your dreams.Even little parts in community plays will help discover your talent.Let take Vanessa Ann Hudgens as a great example. She got noticed by doing a community play and it was the wizard of oz.She only played one of the munchkins, and managed to get an agent.Do things like that, get into commercials. But yea, life's too short to follow someone's else dream, even if it is your mother. You have to pilot your own life.If you want this bad enough,go for it,and work very very hard, and things just might fall into place, there isnt no guarantee, but theres a chance
Good luck!:)

I'm sure that if you are honest to god serious, do your research on the field. Take acting classes or do theatre just as a hobby, in case you haven't already gotten a taste for it. Get books and read up.
Develop your talent. But above all, be mature about it all. Whining and fighting and arguing's not going to get you anywhere.
Fame isn't something that's just dropped into your lap, either. It's earned, just like many things in life. But, if you've got the guts, the determination, and ESPECIALLY the stamina to take harsh criticism, then by all means, do what you want most!
As for convincing your mother, I'm sure that in time, and showing her the maturity and seriousness that I recommend, she'll see your passion.
But, for your sake, simply because being famous is NOT easy or likely, have an alternative passion. ;)
Here's to seeing your name in lights!

If you love acting or modelling, then I say go for it, but if you only want to become a famous actor or model, then it's fair to say that you won't make it. It's really important that you do acting and modelling because you love and have a passion for acting and modelling, not because there's a slight possibility you will become famous for it.

girly, so you would want to be an actress or a model someday. i just can see that you really want to pursue your dreams. it's okay that you think of that dream but never instill in your mind that you would not listen to your mother. she is still your parent and you better understand what you're mom really feels for you. i would not say that you stop thinking those things because that is where you are happy. i am also 16. let me share you something about me. i am also a 16 year old teen (male). i want to be a chemical engineer someday and that i am in college right now. i am a man who does think of what the future brings to me instead i always think of the things at present because in that way, i would know how clear the way is to the future. what i mean is don't just think of what can happen in the future or what you want in life in future. i may advise you that you think and do the same thing of mine. you rely first on the things relevant to you at present. am i making myself clear? i know that in becoming a star someday you would be able to able to help you parents and other loved ones but just understand the situation first. still, you are the only one to make your own decision. remember, you still must listen to your parent because it's for your own sake also. explain to her what you really want and express yourself in a way that she would also understand what you really want. so good luck! i hope i helped you a lot! -- donnie (Philippines)

My son has done the "Hollywood" thing. He was in a few ads and a commercial, but let me tell you ~ there are 1000's who want to do this same thing and it's one of THE toughest ways to go. You must be patient and have TONS of determination.
That being said, however, you should ALWAYS follow your dreams. If you don't at least try - you will never know and it will haunt you for the rest of your life ~ believe me (I know from experience!) Make a deal with you mom to give you "X" amount of time to work on this ... and tell that if in that time nothing comes of it you have a back up plan of ______? (going to college, getting a job, etc ... )
Make sure you make a deal with her that you can keep. That way you can reach for the stars, but have a soft place to land if you can't quite reach!
Good luck to you! =)

Your mom is right. If you want to act because you want to act you will do it one way or another. If you want to act to become
famous you should not even try it. There are things you could do now that she wouldn't object to. And in a couple of years you can do what you want. For now be a good girl and listen to your mom.

You must find out what other person your Mother really admires and listens to.
You then corner that other Person in a remote location and win them over to your way of thinking. Then you blackmail that other person to go and persuade your Mother. Simple.

It is extremely difficult to become famous, and even more difficult to be a brilliant actor.
Your mom is right. find another career.
Become a doctor, you will make more money and be happier.
Most actors do more work as waiter and waitresses than they do as actors.
