No you cannot. Motherboards (chipsets, BIOS) only support certain processors. The sockets are different as well. You probably wouldn't even be able to put the processor in.

Sorry! But do make sure that it's the processor that is dying before you go through the hassle because usually other components are the ones that give problems. Processors, in my experience, tend to be stable unless the end user messes around with it, or it overheats.

You can only use processors that have the same socket as the motherboard. None of the AMD processors will work in place of an Intel processor and visa-versa.

I would recommend purchasing a new processor for her computer. It looks like you can pick up a AMD Sempron 2800+ for around $47.99. If the motherboard will support a faster Sempron processor, you could go with a 3500+ which is about the same amount of money.

As stated above, it extremely is not attainable because of fact they do no longer seem to be properly suited. although, you may shop your setup and regulate your K7 CPU. look up some classes on overclocking K7 processors. i've got in my view changed my K7 CPU and won 50% clock %. the extremely some older K7 fashions are extra suited because of fact they have not been production unit locked. it extremely is fairly easy, you purely fill and shrink some bridges on the chip. some older K7 Duron have been conventional to realize 2.5GHz. Your different determination is to enhance to a sparkling CPU and motherboard. Intel and Amd are having a cost conflict this summer season, so i choose to advise you wait some months. seek for costs to drop 50% on maximum processors by making use of August.
