Don't bring multiple boyfriends/girlfriend, husbands/wives, into their lives. This confuses children and teaches negative behaviors, they will carry into adulthood.
Pay close attention to signals children give (nonverbal).
Make sure the child doesn't have anything in their room that keeps them from getting a good night's sleep.
Make sure the child has a consistent bedtime.
Eat less fastfood, more meals prepared at home.
Teach the children to prepare healthy snacks/meals.
Responsibilty is taught by being responsible parents.
Attend church or synagogue with the children.
Children do things for elderly, dog shelters, etc. without expecting money in return.
Kids stay with you in the store.
Know where the children are, their friends and parents. Don't be afraid to ask questions.
Trust common sense to keep kids safe.
Child earns a toy by saving the money, instead of parents purchasing all their toys.
Open a savings account with all the money that's in their piggey banks, instead of borrowing and spending it.
Keep your promises.
Attend school plays, musicals, Spring Concerts.
Have an occasional breakfast or lunch at school w/child.
Volunteer for the child's teacher occasionally.
Please don't tell the child how bad he/she is, or ridicule in front of anyone in public.
Say at least one encouraging thing to the child daily.
Teach the children how to share with those who don't have.
No matter how much you detest the ex-husband, wife, in-laws, remember they are an important part in the child's life, so keep negative feelings to yourself. Children are smart and flexible and all too soon figure things out.
Do whatever is necessary to keep predators, whether they are strangers/family members away from your children.
Count to 10 when angry, refrain from shouting, cursing, and using the words SHUT UP.
Remember, a child is a gift, even though the gifts arrive unplanned/unexpected, they are taken away from us sometimes the same way.

Say what they mean, and mean what they say !!
It is becoming a lost art in parental communications !!
My Mother was a strong believer in listening !!
She said something once and we had the choice of
consequence. We could count on it !! Yeah, Buddy !!
The lesson was to become good decision makers.

Spend more time with their children, most don't do that anymore...they think that's what computers, TVs, games and such are for.
