I've got a bad habit of not realizing how fortunate I am in life. Sometimes, I have to remind myself that things could always be worse....So I try to remember a quote that I once heard, "I was complaining about not having any shoes when I saw a man who had no feet".

What do you tell yourself when you're complaining about life?

Honestly? That I shouldn't be doing this if I have better things to do. ^_^ But there's a catch....

I keep running into folks who don't have a *clue* about how things work outside of their own narrow lives. You know, the kinds of folks who believe the hype from Fox News about "welfare queens" nearly a decade after workfare reforms hit in the U.S., among other things. I keep running into folks who just think Katrina was "a bit of bad weather" and that New Orleans is *just dandy* these days. o_o

So half the time these days, I really don't piss and moan for my own benefit so much. I do it to let people know that there *are* people like me out there, we do exist, that there are poor folks who do work, *have worked*, and who really are NOT to blame for the messed-up state of their lives.

If people had more than half a clue, I'd be a lot less ranty, at least here on Answers, you know?

Thanks for your time! ^_^

Hi!

Blessed are you when not only do you count your blessings but make your blessings count.

Now I don't complain about my own lot but try to do what I can to improve things for others. After all, I'm one of the richest people in the world in real terms. In my country, I am not so well off - but I have food, shelter, warmth, a job, people who love me and relative health. Millions are in need of combinations of all these things.

Count your blessings and make your blessings count.

Good wishes.

hmm i used to think so too. but it must be hard being a celebrity. you see shyte written about you on the internet, magazines. you cant ever act like yourself, because everywhere you go ppl are watching your every move. and then theres the highs and the lows, when your popular and everbody is luvin you and then when the magazines get bored of ya they start to write nassty things and then the world starts to turn on you. no privacy. but im not a celebrity. im just an american girl living in japan, and everywhere i go ppl stare at me all the time. i hate it. and thats probably how celebrities feel and they got it way worse. but you know, we aint celebrities so how would we know. money cant bring you happiness, you know what im talking bout?
