Very unlikely to get stuck by lightening and even if the house was you would most likely be uninjured.
Around the earth there are 100 lightning strikes per second, or 8,640,00 times a day. yet there were only 1300 deaths in the US between 1980 and 1995. You have a very small chance of being hit unless you are outdoors standing under a power pole or tall tree.

Why wouldn't you be safe? How many people have you heard of that were killed by a thunderstorm while inside their house? How many people have been killed by lightening even when it DOES strike their house? None. Obviously, the thunder will make you jump. It IS startling. Nothing wrong with jumping. Do what I do. Put in earplugs. Then put on noise canceling head phones over the earplugs and turn it up all the way. You can hear through the head phones just fine. Then, sit in a room with no windows and watch tv or listen to music through the head phones. Ta da! No storm.

You will be ok, its normal. I'm 23 and live in Florida. It rains everyday or every other day. Its raining right now as a matter of fact. Its thundering. I get scared when its a loud boom, but then I start doing other things. Just relax and read a book or magazine. Try and play a game with your family so it will take your mind off the storm.

I'm a lot older than 14, and given the availability of time, will sit in a sheltered spot and watch a storm roll in. It's really awesome. You might want to try that. You can run in once the rain starts coming down in earnest, but at least you will appreciate that there is beauty in these storms, and your propensity to be scared of them will decrease.

My father once confided to me that he watched thunderstorms because he was afraid of them, and watching them (from a sheltered point near a storm cellar entrance) reduced the fear. It's like if you can watch the thing getting ugly, and have somewhere to get away, you're more in control.
edit:
If you can see the lightning strike, the thunder is not nearly as scary, because you know it's coming and are ready for it.

It is better to be afraid of thunder and lightening than to be fearless of it and be killed by it. Tell your friends that thunder and lightening are real dangers and can be scary, especially if a storm is right over you. With that said, your fears sound a bit excessive for your age.
You should not be outside in this kind of weather, because it poses a real danger. But, inside a car or house, you are perfectly safe. As long as you are in some kind of shelter, it's very unlikely you could get hurt by lightening.

First you should calm down. If you are inside of a house, not using running water (sink, bathtub, etc), not using electrodomestics (T.V., radio, computer, fan, etc.) and not close to a window or touching a metallic part, you don't have to be scared. Unlike you, I like to see them, specially at night when the light up the whole sky, but for sleeping i don't like them.
