I have this gross fuzzy dark green algae in my tank and i heard that the siamese algae eater can fix my problem. The algae is really really hard to get off. I have to rip it off with my fingers cause scurbbing can't get the job done.

Will it harm my fish if I leave the light off for four days?

I doubt a siamese algae eater would last very long in that tank. They aren't very large fish and would probably end up as dinner for one of the severums or blood parrots before too long.

Here's a link to a page that shows the two fish as well as a few others you are likely to see in stores and discusses the differences.

Hope that helps

Siamese Algae Eaters actually eat algae their whole lives. Chinese Algae Eaters will eat Algae for about 2 years, then they start attacking other fish. Unfortunately, they are often both sold under the same name. I would avoid it, it really isn't worth the risk. To get rid of the algae, leave your tank in total darkness for 4 day, and during this time, feed your fish half as much food as normal. This will kill the algae and make it very easy to scrape off. Fish don't need lights at all. They would be just as happy without lights. Good luck!

No. i do no longer precisely understand what a chinese language algae eater is even though it sounds super for a ten. replace it with a secret snail or something small Barbs could be in communities of 6 and there are a number of styles of barbs. None although, can flow in a ten gallon Make the neons an outstanding 6. whilst you're actually not making plans to get a centerpiece fish, get 8-9. it extremely is an fairly stunning stocking plan and that i like it plenty!

It's not always true that a chinese algea eater start killing the fish. I've had not problems with mine for years with guppies, cichlids , was even in my convict tank for a while.
Personnally I would just get a pleco, there are lots of breeds that don't grow to that huge size, and will do fine in your tank. I'm going to get another albino bristlenose when I get my 36 gal set back up.
