I need an ethernet wall port, like for cable, or an electrical outlet, but ethernet.

First, what is it called.
Second, where can I buy them.

8P8C (commonly known as RJ-45) jack. Can be found many places including home improvement stores and many electronics stores (home depot, lowe's, radio shack)

You can get a pre made cat5 cable with wall plates on ebay, I've seen them 25, 50, and 100 feet for very little money. Then all you need to do it install it into the wall from point A to point B, install the wall plates, plug in the cable and go.

These are called RJ45 wall plates available at Best Buy, Staples ect.
Suggestion: would be cheaper to get a wireless router, unless you must have maximum security, also saves running cable.

It's called a wall plate and Home depot sells them.

They sell wall plates that you can accept custom snap in connectors. Then you get a Cat5 or Cat6 connector for it. Good luck.
