When the killer whale dies in captivity do they just see the body floating or at the bottom of the tank and are like, 'well, another one died; oh no.'
my question is does it float or sink?

Everything sinks first. Then as it is putrefied by bacteria it bloats and floats.

ORCAS THAT ARE IN CAPTIVITY ARE VERY WELL MONITORED.THEIR TRAINERS AND THE AQUARIUMS BIOLOGIST KNOW WHEN THEY ARE SICK AND DO WHAT THEY CAN TO CURE THEM.THEY STAY WITH THEM NIGHT AND DAY UNDER CLOSE SUPERVISION.IF IT DOES DIE THEY ARE THERE WHEN IT DOES AND IS REMOVED FROM THE TANK.ORCAS DO NOT SINK BECAUSE THEIR BODY MASS IS MOSTLY FAT NOT MUSCLE.FAT FLOATS.
