Known by a number of names - Mycophobia, Fear of Mushrooms, and Aversion to Mushrooms being the most common - the problem often significantly impacts the quality of life. It can cause panic attacks and keep people apart from loved ones and business associates. Symptoms typically include shortness of breath, rapid breathing, irregular heartbeat, sweating, nausea, and overall feelings of dread, although everyone experiences mushrooms fear in their own way and may have different symptoms.
Like all fears and phobias, mushrooms fear is created by the unconscious mind as a protective mechanism. At some point in your past, there was likely an event linking mushrooms and emotional trauma. Whilst the original catalyst may have been a real-life scare of some kind, the condition can also be triggered by myriad, benign events like movies, TV, or perhaps seeing someone else experience trauma.

Definition is Smart!
If you are not familiar with your outdoors area and what is in the wild...stay out. It takes time, patience, and knowledge of the area to make an educated guess when it comes to mushrooms. They are a fungus and can be very deadly if ingested or inhaled.
You probably heard some grown ups talking a bout it as a small child and it stuck or saw an article on it in the paper or TV. Either way, you are better off.

I m scared of them because they are creepy. I had a horrible dream about me in my yard BAREFOOT. Then I realized that their where huge mushrooms all around my feet. IT WAS TERRIBLE! One time my sister threw mushrooms at me. I got so freaked out, I kept running and screaming. Ok whenever I see a mushroom or mushrooms in the woods I scream. Ex: I m walking in the woods and my foot almost steps on a mushroom its in front of me. I start screaming and running away. My mom says parker shhh you scared me. Don t worry ur not alone.

I have a HUGE phobia of Mushrooms. I can't go outside until they are all dead. One time my friend pranked me by putting one in my locker, i screamed punched him in the jaw. If i see one on the internet i will jump, i can't go outside like a normal person thanks to Mycophobia. I'm glad i'm not the only one.

LOL...I did this search as a hoot.
Now, I'm not implying that you are a true phobic, but I thought since you seem to have a micro phobia about mushrooms you might appreciate this site.
You have Mycophobia...or just a micro amount of mycophobia.

You were kept in a dark, hot damp basement, when you were a baby. Everything smelled like shiii, uh, poo poo. It is natural to fear you will be returned. You are afraid to touch them for fear of feeling the cold clammy touch you had as a baby.
