I won't judge you. I will only tell you my experience. I met my husband when he was (23) and a senior in college. He also has a Transformer collection and plays ALOT of videogames. At first I was creeped out because I thought it was very immature and weird. I have since realized that after six years of being together that this is pretty normal for guys to do this. It doesnt mean they are not responsible. Actually my husband turned out to be the most mature person I know.
At least this guy had them in a closet:) My husband has collected them since he was a kid. No different then baseball cards I guess~ Hope this helps~ oh yea and YOUR NOT SHALLOW!!!

No, you're not being shallow, but you've probably over-reacted. I've dated guys who collected toys (they sell them on e-bay, are animators, computer guys, etc), and they collect them out of nostalgia . It's just like guys who collect cars, stamps, etc. or a woman who collects purses, shoes, etc.
If he were using these toys to lure kids to his house, then yes...that would be creepy. Or, if he's living in his parents's house and spends most of his income collecting this stuff, then yes, that's a little weird.
However, I say that if he's a decent guy in all other respects, I'd say give him another chance. Tell him that you kinda freaked out because you've never met anyone with his interest before (and trust me, there are A LOT of guys out there who collect toys, comic books, etc...they have huge conferences about these things, e.g. Comicon, Wonderon - and a lot of the people who work at Disney, Pixar, and other movie studios are toy collectors). Anyways, give him another chance, you might be surprised.

Yeah. U were being REALLY shallow.
What he collects really don't much affect a relationship does it?
I know an old man who collects oriental dolls and has 1000s of em. He has done this since he was a teen. This guy has grandkids and has been married to the same woman for as long as i can remember.
I know a guy who is almost 40yo and has a massive starwars figure collection (and spaceships and other starwars stuff too). This guy is married with 2 kids.
My gf collects miniature horses of all kinds. I just got a cabinet for her to keep em in.
Honestly, breakin up with the dude just cuz he collects toys really aint sensible. I would say...your loss.

Did he offer to share? Did he actively play with them or were they an investment? Were they his childhood toys that held great sentimental meaning for him? Is he a grown man of 42 or of 18?

you judged him in just one aspect of his personality. did you take time to see the whole person? what you saw could be a positive indication that having those toy collections mean he's a person of sentimental nature if he loves or like something. an organized individual too. but then again it's what kind of man you love to be with that matters...

short answer YES you were being shallow. they were toys. it wasn't a closet full of s3x toys and magazines. imagine how you made him feel after he showed you his collection he was probably proud of. it's no different than you collecting something wether or not you use it or not.

Yep, super shallow. All men have toys! Some guys have tools or cars or computer stuff (I have a ton of camera stuff). Your guy just had real toys, and he cared enough about you to show you. IMHO you blew this one.

I would definately laugh, but I don't think I'd break up with him. I mean if he told you he like plays with action figures in the tub, then that is break-up-worthy. lol

Was he a good guy in all other respects? If that's the only problem then maybe you over-reacted.
