If liberal means free, I would think that liberals would be completely oblivious to race and would oppose discrimination in every way, shape, and form. So, I'm confused as to why liberals are the ones who support affirmative action.

Liberals actions a lot of times are a classic example of the phrase "The road to hell is paved with good intentions." I think they came up with affirmative action to punish me because I am a white male, who had nothing to do with slavery since I am only 24.

On first thought affirmative action seemed like a good plan but once you look at for even 5 minutes you realize affirmative action is nothing more than reverse racism, and discrimination which is not what liberals intended but that's what happened.

It's a bizarre twist on their basic approach....

Liberals support freedom, and diversity, and equality. That's their core philosophy.

Somehow, some liberals that think the way to ensure equality is to to "balance the scales" by applying racial discrimination in reverse to give people special benefits based on race -- someone thinking that will make up for past discrimination.

The Courts have bought this argument, which is why affirmative action is allowed. But it really is against the core liberal philosophy of being truly racial neutral.

you are able to no longer help what colour you're born or what gender you're... political ideals are a call and not purely that... yet people might merely declare to be conservative to get a job? it would be unenforceable... i'm uncertain approximately affirmative action for non secular ideals? it particularly is a sparkling one on me... are there loads of conservative professors that won't be able to ruin into the sector? or unequal pay between conservative professors and liberal ones? i've got on no account heard of this? there might choose to be loads of unemployed conservative professors to do this... conservatives seem to think of professors do no longer make adequate funds relative to the coaching to difficulty...

A progressive view of race includes institutions and norms designed to equalize access to higher education.

As a liberal reform of the U.S. education system, affirmative action - in theory - was meant to undo structural disadvantages.

I've often wondered that myself. I personally don't think college admissions officials should be allowed to ask an applicant's gender or ethnicity until the acceptance packet portion. You have to ask at some point for demographics purposes.

Why don't we just call it what it really is. "Affirmative action" is really just giving preferential treatment on the basis of race, which, the last time I looked, was unconstitutional.
