yes. family history.

say a baby is born with blue eyes, yet the parents have brown.

on the mom's side

father - blue
mother - brown

on the dad's side

father - brown
mother -brown

all it takes is one person. it's rare, obviously, since more people have brown, yet is still possible.

part 1: Can 2 brown eyed parents have a blue eyed child.....Yes.

Example B= brown and b=blue...you only need 1 copy of the dominant B allele to have brown eyes so you can carry the recessive b allele and have borwn eyes. If both parents carry the b allele you will have this:
--------B------b
B----BB-----Bb
b-----Bb-----bb

Where there is a 25% chance that they can have a blue eyed child ( and 75% chance of a brown eyed child).

Part 2: Can 2 blue eyed parents have a brown eyed child....NO.....blue eyes is recessive....you need 2 copies of these alleles to show blue eyes. If both parents are blue eyed then they can ONLY have blue eyed children ( ok there are some technical issues and in rare cases you could possibly get a brown eyed child)

-----b------b
b--bb-----bb
b---bb----bb

All offspring show the same blue eyes as the parents.

It is possible for a couple to have a blue eyed child if BOTH parents have blue recessive genes in their gene pool.

Yes.
ex: Brown=B, Blue=b
BbxBb=
BB, Bb, Bb, bb
bb represents the possibility of the child having bb (blue) eyes

yes if both parents are heterozygous (have both recessive and dominant alleles) then there' s a one in four chance of the child having two recessive alleles causing the expression of the recessive trait
