Up.
I'm curious.
Down would be easier.
But I would want to see what's above.

Depends. Which way am I facing when I am "aware" of this?
If it's towards the lighted top then I'll just keep going... slowly since I don't do stairs too well.
If it's down, I may simply cheat and use the banister to slide down.

I think I trust the landing more than the light. But first, I'd go up, see what there is and then go back down or something =D

You can go up, but if you want to go down again, it will take you 2 hours to get down. Go up anyways because you don't know whats up and you've already been down.

Not really sure. I guess I would go up 2 see what's there and then go down.

If I go up, I might get hungry and being most houses have kitchens on the first floor, I would go down.

Up, just for the exercise, but I'll probably regret that decision after 20 minutes of walking up. At least my thighs will look great.

then you aren't standing in the middle. it takes less energy to go down than up. you'll go down quicker.
i'm going to go for the "down". i'm lazy, and i'm pretty sure i'll need that downstairs bathroom when i get there. (in LESS than an hour). ;>)
