I start looking for gifts around this time of year. When Christmas does come I am done and in a happy frame of mind. I try to budget about $75.00 per person which comes to about $500.00. I like to find gifts that are different and unique. For instance I get books for people on topics that interest them, personalized items etc. One year I made a copy of my Mom's cherished family photo. Then I placed it in a nice frame. It cost about $20.00 total. She cried like crazy when she opened it. Try really hard to get gifts that have some meaning to the recipient. Trust me it will be appreciated. This year my Dad is getting an oil painting of his parents who recently passed away. It cost $99.00. Good luck to you.

During stocktake sales, buy heavily discounted items of good quality (eg, for children: eg at Toys R Us, there are many clearance boxes with nice toys).

These discounted items can be up to 90%off.

Myer does have some clearance tables too. Check them out.

Buy only from reputable businesses.

I would say buying things during the year, when they are on sale, might help.
