Abortion is a good topic. If you are for it, you can write about a fictional character who gets raped and hence the need for the abortion. You can address the need because of the mentality of the person, the physical or medical circumstances, the age of the mother, etc. If you are against it, you can argue that it takes two to make the child and that the decision belongs to both partners. You can argue that the embryo is alive and so on. Use a fictional scenario that explains the "case" to the reader.

Other good controversial topics are: the Iraq war, gun control (why citizens need to protect themselves and homes, or crime statistics of gun usage in crimes, placement of cameras on city streets (deter crime or invasion of privacy). These are all topics that have been discussed form many years without leaning one way or the other -- like ying and yang. When is your paper due?

Eugenics and Global warming are two subjects that have boatloads of conflicting information out there. They are both certainly big enough issues to fill 6 pages also cloning and the Iraq war.

PS I don't want you to embarass yourself later so I will correct you it's an argumentative or more properly persausive paper not an arguementation. That's not even a word. Good Luck.

hmmk well there's already a bunch that other people have listed but i think at this point in time in society an extremely controversial topic is bullying online...whether it be on instant messenger, myspace, xanga, facebook....so maybe argue how to stop it? or just in general that it definately is a problem among teenagers today and how it's making kids join certain groups that diss* other groups/ people...
just an idea...
good luck!

There are a lot of topics, but because I've done this one so often, this is the only one that comes to mind: lowering the drinking age to 18.

I think there's enough material out there from current events that you could draw off of - US immigration policy, Iraq, global warming, gun control...BTW, it's argumentative - not argumentation.

mercy killing -- advantages vs. disadvantages
gun control
government conspiracies (ex. JFK's assasination)
abortion
gay rights/marriage
9/11
the iraq war

those are a few ideas....remember to stick to only one side when you argue.

good luck!
