Red Tailed Sharks or Rainbow Sharks can live in a 20 gallon tank. Do not get more than one and only get either one or the other not both. Oh and to the poster above, the Black Shark can get to be close to 2 feet long.

Small freshwater sharks for a 20 gallon would be Redtailed Sharks, Rainbow Sharks, and Black Sharks (they are all the same fish with genetically morphed fin colors). They will all reach about 6 inches, just don't keep them together, they can become very aggressive towards peaceful fish and their own kind.

The sharks you see at the pet store aren't really sharks at all. The term "shark" is derived from its appearance, a superficial resemblance of its dorsal fin to that of the ferocious and predatory ocean fish.
