What are some good large trees that grow in San Diego tht are not prolematic?

We are replacing trees in my condo complex because we have a lot of problems with the roots on our trees breaking the sidewalk etc. also we have some trees that drop a lot of messy berries and seed pods.
Does anyone have any recommendations on good shade trees we can plan that will grow rather large but not be a problem?
I want trees that are not messy and that dont get big surface roots.

Help!!!!

Aristocrat or Bradford fruitless pears are about as trouble free as you'll find.

What about jacaranda? Beautiful purple flowers, striking leaf pattern, flat multiple seed pods instead of individual ones.
